There is so much variety these days when it comes to baby products on the market. I almost think our parents had it so much easier then we do, since there were only a few items to choose from. Since the items were more limited 25+ years ago, it made our parents job of selecting which bottle, pacifier, diaper (etc) they were going to use less complicated. Not to mention no internet, so less searches to find conflicting results, opinions and articles on the same exact products in every category imaginable like we have now.
At this point, I have pretty much decided upon most items we'll be using for our little guy. Obviously some things we start off with we might end up changing to something different over the course of him as a baby, which I am fine with. However there are a few items I am on the fence about which brand we want to go with and simply can't make up my mind what we should get. I can read the internet reviews and articles on the various products every hour of every day if I wanted to but these last few things I want to ask the people I know to chime in and please give me your opinion. Here they are the items I want to know about....Baby bath soaps, shampoos, lotions, diaper cream.
When it comes to bath soaps, shampoos and lotions, I've always heard of and been most familiar with Johnson & Johnson baby products. However if you've ever read the ingredient panel, there are so many additives I'm no longer sure on the Johnson & Johnson products. So unsure, I actually removed that stuff from my registry and went with Susan Brown's Baby products. You can check out the website of their products here. The reason being is that I have very sensitive skin and in case our little man does too, I just don't want to risk it. However, I ask, am I being overly cautious and funny? Moms, what bath/lotion products do you use or did you use on your babies?
Now for diaper creams, which ones do you Moms out there like the best for you baby?
Obviously this is a case by case basis and our little guys body could like something completely different then your baby/kids. However I still want you moms out there to chime in please and give me your opinions on what worked and didn't work for your kiddos.
And since I'm asking for your take on baby/kid items. If you don't mind sharing more....what are some of your favorite items out there that you just couldn't go without? Any items you thought you would like or need and didn't?
Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Must items: Jammies with mittens, Lamb Swing, swaddles, burp clothes, pacifier, baby blankets, the vaccumm cleaner (random, but this always calmed baby down at put her to sleep).
ReplyDeleteI used the purple bottles of Johnson & Johnson - the ones with lavender to help calm them down and get them to sleep (!!!!). However, my favorite (and way more expensive!) were the Mustela products.
ReplyDeleteFor diaper rash (and my kids had much o' that), I liked the Mustela diaper cream. Balmex was fine, too... Boudreaux's Butt Paste is fine, but I liked the others better. The key with the diaper cream (And I didn't get this till Logan was like 2 - eek!), make sure they're little bottoms are DRY before you put it on... otherwise it locks in the moisture, creating even more of a rash.
Lotion - Mustela's smell is way better than J&J. I still have J&J that I haven't used. :o) Guess I need to clean out the cabinet!
Other than that - Purell for Mom's purse & diaper bag & in the car... in case the purse is out of reach (MUST put on toddlers immediately after leaving daycare!), shopping cart cover, extra changes of clothes on hand (including a shirt for Mom - spit up happens).
Yea for baby gear!!
You both are AmAZZZZing!! Thank you for chiming in. Definitely love the vacuum idea Steph and didn't think of that. Jules , have the mini Purrells placed EVERYWHERE and love the idea for immediately after daycare as well as suggestions and your advice on everything else. Bottoms must be dry...got it. Would have overlooked that part of it. Thanks again Steph & Jules; both of your comments were super helpful and now I'm off to get further prepared. xoxo
